LARA STONE POISED TO BE THE NEW FACE OF GIORGIO ARMANI COSMETICS

BEAUTY  |  By Kristina Bustos  |  April 14th, 2010

Lara Stone succeeds Sasha Pivovarova in the second beauty campaign in a row.

World Wide Web – Congratulations are in order for Lara Stone. Her gorgeous face will be gracing the Fall 2010 campaign for Giorgio Armani Cosmetics. For fellow supermodel, Sasha Pivovarova, it looks like Stone has one-upped her again. A few weeks ago, Prada announced that Stone was the new face of its Infusion d’Iris fragrance — a gig that Pivovarova previously held as well. Looks like Ms. Lara Stone continues her rise up in the modeling game. What do you think Blaynistas? Coincidence? Or should the models watch their backs? [NYMag]

NOTE TO SELF: DO NOT MESS WITH MILAN

FASHION  |  By Kristina Bustos  |  March 1st, 2010

The Milanese take it to the streets to protest against Anna Wintour.

Milan – Women wearing wigs, sunglasses and black jackets over t-shirts that said “I Will Only Stay 3 Days” — a dig on Anna Wintour — protested on the Piazza Oberdan before the Gucci show. And we say: Oh Fashion Week, wherever you are you never fail to bring in the drama.

Milan Fashion Week has kicked off but instead of the usual one week, the event is on for only six days. Why? Because Ms. Wintour had planned on staying in the city for only three days (Feb. 26 – 28). And since it was very important that the Vogue editor-in-chief attended shows, organizers arranged to fit 88 runways shows into about 70 hours over the six days to accommodate Wintour’s plans. You see, organizers of the event have rearranged the schedule three times now in the last months to go along with Wintour’s plans. The head of the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, Mario Boselli, received requests for changes and was put under pressure from high profile fashion houses like Gucci and Giorgio Armani. Boselli then decided to reshuffle the schedule all because to accommodate with Anna’s three day plans, which brings us to our question: Why not take it out on the organizers then, protesters with bad wigs (and how dare you pick gray wigs too!)? Surely, one woman can’t have that much power but then again that one woman is indeed Ms. Anna Wintour. [Fashionista, WSJ]

GIORGIO ARMANI HAS GONE GAGA

FASHION  |  By Kristina Bustos  |  February 25th, 2010

Italian designer Giorgio Armani works again with Lady Gaga, creating tour looks for the Grammy nominated singer.

World Wide WebLady Gaga is the toast of the fashion world as designers are wanting to create her next “Lady Gaga” look. Giorgio Armani has already worked with the “Bad Romance” singer for the Grammys this year, designing that crazy orbital ensemble she wore on the red carpet. Now Armani has confirmed this week he will continue to work with Gaga as he has created several stage costumes for the singer to wear on her current Monster Ball tour. “We hear Lady Gaga’s music everywhere we go, it is like a soundtrack of our times,” Armani said. “In addition to her formidable songwriting skills, she is a modern fashion phenomenon.” Each look are very Gaga-esque and are paired with specially made matching shoes and sunglasses for the Lady, herself. Story/Image Courtesy of UK Vogue

COUTURE DRAMA: ARMANI UPSET AT DIOR

Paris — Oh Paris Fashion Week just got more interesting, Blaynistas! The Paris shows begin next week and both Giorgio Armani and Christian Dior are presenting their collections down the runways. Dior is scheduled to show on Monday, Jan. 25 at 2:30 pm, but the French fashion house has decided to reshow the collection that same day at a later time — 5:30 pm — for VIP clients. This schedule change, however, affects the Armani show that is showing on Monday too as it has been moved an hour and thirty minutes later from its original time slot — 7:30 pm. Designer Armani isn’t too happy about the move and he lets fashion editors know in his email, calling Dior’s action as “arbitrary and indicative of a lack of respect for other people’s time and labor.” A Dior spokesman said that “it is not elegant to comment” but noted that Dior has presented two shows in previous seasons. World Wide Web – Italian fashion house Versace joins Prada, Giorgio Armani, and Dolce & Gabbana in making the technology world more stylish by launching designer cell phones. Versace will give a sneak preview of their cell phone during the Paris shows next week but you’ll have to be a VIP client to see it. Womp womp. (But don’t worry because in this technology age images of the phone will most likely pop up online in the near future.) Women’s Wear Daily reports that Versace collaborated with French company ModeLabs Group. The company has worked with fashion houses before, such as making cell phones for Christian Dior (pictured left). “This exciting collaboration is consistent with Versace’s strategy of developing the brand’s strong business potential through a select number of agreements with key international licensing partners,” said Gian Giacomo Ferraris, CEO of Versace. Shoppers will have the option of selecting colors and designer features like leather details for the Versace handsets. This is going to be one sexy cell phone, isn’t it? [Style List/FWD]

CRISTIANO RONALDO AND HIS ABS FOR EMPORIO ARMANI

FASHION  |  By Kristina Bustos  |  January 14th, 2010

The Real Madrid soccer star poses for Emporio Armani’s Spring/Summer 2010 ad campaign.

Emporio Armani

World Wide Web - On Tuesday (Jan. 12) we showed you Megan Fox’s Spring/Summer 2010 ad campaign for Emporio Armani. The Transformers star took over Victoria Beckham’s role as the model for Emporio Armani Women’s Underwear and Armani Jeans, but we also know that Vicky’s husband, David Beckham, was the male model for Emporio Armani in 2009. (Remember his famous underwear ad?) Sadly Mr. Beckham  opted not to continue his career as an underwear model. (Emphasis on “sadly” please.) In his replacement is Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo. According to Giorgio Armani, Ronaldo “is the essence of youth — spontaneous, exciting, a real maverick.” Unlike the Beckhams, Fox and Ronaldo will not be posing together in the ads.  After seeing Emporio Armani’s new ads with their new models, what do you think of them, Blaynistas? Hate it or love it?

DABOMB.COM: MEGAN FOX FOR EMPORIO ARMANI UNDERWEAR & ARMANI JEANS

Uncategorized  |  By Jared Lowe  |  January 12th, 2010

Transformers actress Megan Fox has curves and she’s not afraid to use them in new Emporio Armani ads.

D_03a

World Wide Web– Can I say how much I heart these beautiful black & white (and non-slutaticous) pics of Megan Fox for the new Emporio Armani Women’s Underwear and Armani Jeans ads. Thanks to our friend, Amee, over at Armani we have these lovely photos courtesy of fashion photogs Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Fox, who is stripped down to expose her natural curves in the underwear pics and wears only a white Oxford shirt and damp hair for the jeans ad, exudes a natural beauty I’ve yet seen from her sometimes-overt-vampy image. Bravo Armani for making Meg look less like a vixen and more like the girl next door. Check after the jump for more pics!
