Ran into Estelle at the Matthew Williamson Belvedere event in the Meatpacking District last night and Estelle tells The Blay Report that she has found her American Boy. And apparently “he is sooo nice”!
Terrence: So Estelle is there anything new that we can expect coming up soon?
Estelle: “My new album coming out in September, and my mixtape called “I Almost Made a Mixtape” and my new song is out today called “Dear London.” It’s freakin mad so I’m enjoying myself”
You have seen Jerome Lamaar on Kimora Lee Simmons’ Life in the Fab Lane, but this time around the young designer is on his own lane to take over the fashion world.
New York – I recently interviewed designer Jerome Lamaar for the April Issue of the W27 Newspaper, and after finding out that he loved The Blay Report, I couldn’t help but feature him in our next industry profile. I sat down with the designer to talk about his educational foundation and what he is up to now.
When we decided to get back to interviewing people in the media or creative industry, we couldn’t think of a better person to kick it off than with Julee Wilson from Real Simple.
New York - Real Simple is celebrating their 10th Anniversary this month, but that isn’t the only reason why we wanted Julee Wilson on The Blay Report. Two months ago Julee was just promoted from associate fashion editor to staff fashion editor, and she is what we would like to call an “OB:” an original Blaynista. The statuesque editor has been reading The Blay Report even before the site came to be in 2006, when our editor-in-chief and she were interns at Vibe in 2002. ”Zandile is everything that she does,” Julee says. “She embodies The Blay Report and all the work that she does so I feel like I was reading it since 2002 even though it wasn’t around.”
Aspiring journalists should take note though: Julee is one editor you should know by name as she is doing it all — from writing, editing and styling to market appointments and blogging. She even did a Today Show segment on Monday morning, April 5. After all her hard work Julee is where she wanted to be in her life, which comes with her own office and a view of the busy Avenue of the Americas street.
