FASHION’S NIGHT OUT SHOW WAS MAJOR…REALLY MAJOR!

FASHION, Fashion Week  |  By Jared Lowe  |  September 8th, 2010

In the words of the great Rachel Zoe, we “died” a few times during the show.

Lincoln Center, New York - No words could estimate how colossal ‘Fashion’s Night Out: The Show’ was. Not only was this the biggest fashion show known to mankind with over 175 models strutting and a webcast on CBS, but it actually showed in season garments. Only the team at Vogue could triumphantly put together such a coordinated and [scheduled] show. Naomi and Gisele sashayed. Pharrell Williams and N.E.R.D rocked out and we finally got to see Chanel’s Turkish take on Nordic wear in the flesh. Check out some of our favorite photos of the biggest fashion show in history!

FASHION NOTES: ANNA WINTOUR COMPLIMENTS BLOGGERS…SORT OF, JUICY ERIN FETHERSTON, SIZE ZERO MODELS NO MORE FOR CK

FASHION  |  By Kristina Bustos  |  April 21st, 2010

Lazy day? We can’t blame you as the sun is out and you are stuck inside the office. But don’t fret Blaynistas, here are some news for you that will brighten up your afternoon.

• Ms. Anna Wintour is becoming more and more the definition of “Editrix-in-chief.” Anna was at the Pratt Institute with European editor-at-large Hamish Bowl on Monday night as the duo discussed the history of fashion photography. One of the topics brought up in the conversation was fashion bloggers. In short summary, Anna isn’t threatened by you, the Tavis and Bryanboys of the world! Okay, in all seriousness, Anna said that “we embrace bloggers and video and social networking, and anyone that’s talking about fashion is a good thing,” but Vogue has “access and understanding of fashion” that not all bloggers have. Meow! We can’t hate though. [Jezebel]

ANNA WINTOUR AND CO. TAKE ON HARVARD

FASHION  |  By Liza Gates  |  March 25th, 2010

Anna Wintour, Natalia Vodianova, and Michael Kors discuss weight and age issues in fashion and modeling industry at Harvard University.

Boston - Harvard University is home to many intellectual debates, but this week it hosted fashion’s own great debate over weight issues and the runway – a conversation that was mediated by editrix Anna Wintour and American designer Michael Kors. The two fashion moguls headed to the Ivy League university on the heels of Kors’ decision to no longer “hire girls under 16″ to walk his runway, citing their lack of emotional wherewithal, which ultimately makes them vulnerable to fashion’s unreasonable weight limitations.

NOTE TO SELF: DO NOT MESS WITH MILAN

FASHION  |  By Kristina Bustos  |  March 1st, 2010

The Milanese take it to the streets to protest against Anna Wintour.

Milan – Women wearing wigs, sunglasses and black jackets over t-shirts that said “I Will Only Stay 3 Days” — a dig on Anna Wintour — protested on the Piazza Oberdan before the Gucci show. And we say: Oh Fashion Week, wherever you are you never fail to bring in the drama.

Milan Fashion Week has kicked off but instead of the usual one week, the event is on for only six days. Why? Because Ms. Wintour had planned on staying in the city for only three days (Feb. 26 – 28). And since it was very important that the Vogue editor-in-chief attended shows, organizers arranged to fit 88 runways shows into about 70 hours over the six days to accommodate Wintour’s plans. You see, organizers of the event have rearranged the schedule three times now in the last months to go along with Wintour’s plans. The head of the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, Mario Boselli, received requests for changes and was put under pressure from high profile fashion houses like Gucci and Giorgio Armani. Boselli then decided to reshuffle the schedule all because to accommodate with Anna’s three day plans, which brings us to our question: Why not take it out on the organizers then, protesters with bad wigs (and how dare you pick gray wigs too!)? Surely, one woman can’t have that much power but then again that one woman is indeed Ms. Anna Wintour. [Fashionista, WSJ]
