ZOYA WANTS TO SPOON YOU TO HELP PICK YOUR NEXT MANI

BEAUTY  |  By Channing Hargrove  |  September 3rd, 2010

Zoya’s New Color Spoons allow you to try several nail colors without having to commit to buy the bottle, or even paint your nails for that matter.

World Wide Web- If you’re anything like us Blaynistas, when it comes time to pick a color for your mani, you’re like a small child. One minute you think you want one color and the next it’s a different color. Zoya understands that and they want to spoon you. Literally. Zoya’s new Color Spoons are clear plastic handles, with a tip resembling a nail. The nail tips are painted with whatever shade you select and then you hold the spoon to your nail to get a feel for how the color will look on. Intrigued? Here’s how this works. You select however many spoons in however many colors to be sent to you. The spoons cost $.50 but the shipping is free. You are able to use the cost of the spoons toward a nail polish purchase with a promo code. [Bella Sugar]

SO LADY GAGA IS NEW YORK’S GIFT TO POP CULTURE AND FASHION, V MAGAZINE?

EXCLUSIVES, FASHION  |  By Channing Hargrove  |  September 3rd, 2010

The New York Issue of V Magazine is on stands now, and its cover models couldn’t be more New York if they tried.

World Wide Web- The first of four V67 covers to be released was created by Dan Colen where he interpreted the iconic “V” as chewed up wads of bubble gum. You know, like, the stuff you see all over the streets of New York. Colen posed Lady Gaga and designer Marc Jacobs for the cover shoot. Editor Stephen Gan thought Gaga was the perfect choice for the cover. “Just as the statue of Liberty was France’s gift to America, Gaga is, to us, New York’s greatest gift to pop culture and fashion,” said Gan. “Exactly one year after her first V cover, we decided to do the NEW YORK issue, and she was the first person who came to mind to represent our great city.” Does Gaga represent that empire state of mind to you too Blaynistas? We have more images from the glossy after the cut.

FIRST LOOK FROM TIFFANY’S: PLEASE FILE UNDER THINGS YOU CAN’T AFFORD

FASHION, ZANDILE  |  By Zandile Blay  |  September 2nd, 2010

For the month of September, Tiffany’s sends us a “First Look” at their favorite piece of the moment.

New York – Actually forgive the headline of this post. Maybe you can afford this. (And in that case, I would love to date you.) But I digress. Say hello to this sparkling gem crafted from diamonds, gold and platinum. It is ideal for galas, awards ceremonies or if you share my sensibilities, paired with cut off shorts a crop top and some stacked heels for a quick run to the bodega. It will also cost you about $400,000 U.S (before taxes.) Find at Tiffany’s stores world wide. (On third thought, please file under: Third reason why I need a sugar daddy. Student loans and hairweaves being the first two. Naturally.)

LANVIN + H&M= HELLS YES!

FASHION  |  By Channing Hargrove  |  September 2nd, 2010

H&M released a teaser video about the upcoming collaboration riddled with Alber Elbaz-isms fueling rumors. Today it was confirmed the two will be working on a holiday collection together.

World Wide Web- Remember when Kanye West tweeted a couple weeks ago, that he jogged in Lanvin? We thought he was being a show-off. Typical Kanye. But you know what Blaynistas? We may have the opportunity to jog and do whatever else in Lanvin if this collaboration with H&M is really happening. From the looks of things, it really is. WWD announced this morning that this is indeed true. Lanvin’s Alber Elbaz and Lucas Ossendrijver were drawn to the idea that design esthetic would not being going “public but that H&M would be going luxury.” The collection will include menswear and womenswear and will be released November 20th in the US. A GOOD A$$ IDEA: RIMOWA DEBUTS WALLETS

FASHION, ZANDILE  |  By Zandile Blay  |  September 1st, 2010

A great brand executes an even greater concept.

Germany – By no means can I take credit for this, but let me attempt. I recently had the opportunity to visit the first North American factory for Rimowa, the luxury luggage brand based out of Cologne, Germany. I was struck by the care and craftsmanship that went into every piece of luggage they produced and tickled to death over their signature grooved hard shell design. Why didn’t they translate it into other more portable items? Maybe someone heard my thoughts because behold: the Rimowa wallet.  Continue reading…

HOUSE OF JACQUES FATH RELAUNCHES: BUT WILL ANYONE CARE?

FASHION, ZANDILE  |  By Zandile Blay  |  September 1st, 2010

After over 50 years, the legendary luxury returns to stores. We’re just wondering: who is buying it?

Paris - Anyone who knows the history and contributions of Jacques Fath, the legendary French designer and contemporary of Christian Dior who died an early death in 1954, would be overjoyed to hear it’s relaunching.  Until you see what was relaunched: a series of small, ornate, delicately designed clutches. By no means unattractive, these luxe accessories, crafted from precious skins and accented with woods and gems, seem to be worth every bit of their $650 price tag. But it was the worst way they could have relaunched. Here’s why:

PARIS HILTON HAS PERFECTED TURNING A MUGSHOT INTO A GLAMOUR SHOT

BEAUTY  |  By Channing Hargrove  |  September 1st, 2010

Hilton seems to have mastered “the smile with your eyes” technique for the camera, because her mug shots have gotten progressively better.

World Wide Web- It definitely isn’t a good thing that Paris Hilton has been arrested enough times that we can compare her mug shots. You have to admit though, they have gotten better. This time around she’s rocking a cute hairstyle, nice sooty lashes and a sweet pink mouth. Hilton was arrested for alleged cocaine possession on August 28th. We aren’t quite as sympathetic seeing as this the 29-year-old’s third run in with the law. We are wondering, however, if she is wearing the correct hair extensions in her mug shot. [StyleList]
