J’DIE: GA110DR – 117 (A.K.A THE DEE & RICKY WATCH)

FASHION  |  By Zandile Blay  |  June 30th, 2010

Our favorite twins – besides Mary Kate & Ashley (The Row) Dean and Dan (D Squared)  and Robert and Benjamin (Burkman Bro’s) debut something new.

New York – There’s something about twins that helps them rise to the the top of this fierce (and I don’t mean the good kind) fashion ladder. Case in point the names above. Second case in point, the names following: Dee & Ricky Johnson. The New York born brothers – and dear friends of T.B.R – are known and stalked for their lego inspired accessories line. It caught the eye of more than fashionable New Yorkers – it attracted G-Shock…

…AND THE BRITS KEEP COMING: NIKE SELECTS BRIT TALENT FOR NEW COLLAB

FASHION  |  By Zandile Blay  |  June 29th, 2010

Nike’s New Collab

London - It’s good to be an indie Brit designer, innit?  The street – or should we say catwalk – cred that these designers have continues to get mined in increasingly profitable ways. Case in point: Nike’s latest collaboration dubbed the m98 Muse collection. It pairs some of London’s most buzz worthy designers: Felder Felder, Hannah Marshall, Sibling and Julian J Smith (whose collaboration is pictured above on artist Jodie Williams.)  The collaboration is hot and sexy – much like the artists the pieces are draped on. THE JOKE IS OVER: UNGARO LOOKING FOR REAL FASHION DESIGNERS

FASHION  |  By Zandile Blay  |  April 19th, 2010

Blaynistas, before I continue this post can we all thank the God of our understanding for Ungaro’s latest move? But I digress.

Paris, France – The blogs are buzzing about some grand news: “It” Brit designer, Giles Deacon, might be next to helm the House of Ungaro. Now is that a collective sigh of relief I hear? J’Heckyeah! After suffering throughLindsay Lohan and her “creative director” Estrella Archs, it seems Ungaro’s owner, Asim Abdullah, has come to his senses. According to Vogue UK, he is in talks with Deacon in Paris as I type this and you read. This, in my humble opinion, would be the first real appointment in recent history. Besides Lohan, Abdullah, appointed the very young — though very talented, but still very young – Esteban Cortazar as creative director in the past. Seems like Abdullah is learning the difference between generating press and generating respect for a house as esteemed as Ungaro. YoubettaworkMrAbdullah.com! [UK Vogue]

WHAT WOULD ‘T’ MAGAZINE BE LIKE WITH SALLY SINGER

FASHION  |  By Zandile Blay  |  April 19th, 2010

Or rather what would Vogue be without her?

New York - These are the thoughts we are pondering in light of the latest news from WWD. According to the paper Singer, who is currently fashion news and features director at Vogue, is the first (and likely only) serious candidate for the recently vacant spot at T, the New York Times fashion magazine. It’s no surprise that she’s at the top of the shortlist for replacements for Stefano Tonci, the previous editor who is now at W Magazine.  Continue reading…

I was t here to chop it up with designer Cynthia Rowley as she unveiled her new collection with Roxy. Forgive the photo quality. Whatchu think? Personally, I like the energy of the pieces…..I’d love it as a gift, not so sure about it as a purchase. No shade.
