Some girls like to buy the products. Some girls like to see them made. I fall in the later category.
Toronto, Canada - Sidebar: how fab is that photo? It almost looks like I’m being taken on a guided tour with the paparazzi stalking. It’s only have true. I was on a guided tour and the photogs you see didn’t care about me – they just cared about what we were all looking at: really, really, amazing luxury luggage by Rimowa. A few weeks ago I had the honor of flying up to Toronto to visit the Cologne, Germany based company’s new-ish North American factory. What did I learn?
That when you call something “luxury” you better have the craftsmanship to back it up! Rimowa epitomized this with a pristine factory of 40+ artisans who hand make each piece of Rimowa luggage. From the light weight, ribbed, polycarbonate outershell, to the super strong silken lining each component of the luggage is crafted by an expert. The tradition is one they’ve carried since 1898, when the company first launched. Since then, they’ve maintained family ownership and a prestigious standing as one of a handful of companies making luxury luggage goods of note.
It was brilliant to see for myself the love and dedication infused in each piece. But it was brillianter (yep, I created that word) to leave my trip with my very own Rimowa Salsa carry on. This fashionista is now a luggage-nista.
