ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER BRAND MAY SHUT DOWN

New York-based Tuleh cancels its Fall 2010 show, causing the industry to question the future of the brand.

New York – It’s a sad time in the fashion industry with labels closing their doors and high-profiled brands laying off employees due to the recession, and it seems Tuleh may be next to meet its fate. Tuleh, which was launched in 1998, just canceled its runway show for Fall 2010 and we’re sure the brand was hoping that it would do it quietly. But now there are speculations going around that Tuleh is running out with its funds as fashion bible Women’s Wear Daily reported that the label is not meeting the demands of its creditors. Trilea Holdings Inc., which backs the label but isn’t investing in it anymore, is rumored to be looking for other options that could save Tuleh. A Trilea representative said, “The business has been and continues to be unprofitable, and creditors were making demands that the company could not satisfy.” Well here’s to hoping that Tuleh recovers since an insider told WWD “the brand still resonates with customers.” [The Cut, Style]
