PARTY AT LESPORTSAC, CELBRATING THE LILY PULITZER COLLABORATION

March 12th, 2010

LeSportsac holds a party in Manhattan to debut and to celebrate their collaboration with Lily Pulitzer.

New York – The Lily Pulitzer store in downtown Manhattan was downright animalistic last night as the store opened its doors to celebrate its long awaited collaboration with Lesportsac. The two iconic brands came together less than a year ago to create a line of bags that are not only chic and functional but are also staged to heighten awareness of The World Wildlife Fund.  With a percentage of the event sales going directly to the organization it was clear that the two brands have elevated Americana to new socially chic heights. Check for more after the jump.

JAPAN TAKES THE CATWALK TO THE THIRD DIMENSION

March 12th, 2010

A Japanese fashion publication goes 3D — a first in Japan’s history.

Japan – Avatar has nothing on this: Japan Fashion Week has taken 3D from the big screen to the catwalk.  With the help of Non-no Magazine – Japan’s premier fashion publication — and satellite broadcaster BS-TBS and consumer electronics firm Panasonic Corp Non-no will showcase the magazine’s Spring Collection in the third dimension for the first time in Japan’s history. The joint venture came on the heels of the 3D invasion set off in America by James Cameron’s universal blockbuster Avatar. “With 3D, you can see how far the pleats of a skirt extend, or the size and weight of a corsage,” boasts Yoshiharu Koshizaki, editor-in-chief of Non-no magazine before reminding us that after all “this IS the year of the 3D.”

The collection hints at colors and scents of frangipani, hibiscus, sand and tropical waters. Who doesn’t feel like they are ready for long days on the beach with this collection?

AT THE END OF THE RAINBOW IS A SPLIT END!

March 12th, 2010

The hair color extension trend for fall continues!

World Wide Web – Not only are the colors of the leaves transforming this fall but the hair as well. We’ve seen the colors change as we follow the A/W fashion weeks around the globe with hair colors coming as varied as the fall leaves themselves. Starting in New York with Cynthia Rowley show, hair colorist Eva Scrivo came armed backstage with mounds of crimped hair extensions in different shades of peach, teal, navy, amethyst, and cassis. Scrivo pointed out that permanent, rich jewel-tone colors make the whole idea of streaks more whimsical and feminine, less punk. “Women are experimenting more, and you don’t have to do a head full of extensions to make an impact,” she said. Flashes of color in Paris with Miu Miu such as orange, magenta, black, and platinum strands weaved into sleek ponytails. “It gives a futuristic feel, a very manga-doll look,” says hairstylist Guido Palau.

Direct reference to the manga doll look was London’s Fashion East with the colored pigtail hair extensions. So this fall Blaynistas, get ready to let it all out and let your true colors shine!

FROM REHAB TO RETAIL: AMY WINEHOUSE COLLABS WITH FRED PERRY

March 11th, 2010

Three words: Amy, Winehouse, Designs!!!!!

World Wide Web – Can you say j’die? Amy Winehouse has collaborated with Fred Perry for a 17-piece collection to come out this fall. From WWD:

“In a palette of mostly black and pink, the 17-piece collection includes a girlish twinset; slim, thigh-skimming pencil skirts; capri pants, a mini bowling dress, and Fred Perry’s signature polo shirts (“collars are most definitely raised,” the press release effused).”

Now only if our girl could come out with an album sometime soon, we would be in heaven!

GUESS WHO ARE ON W? YOU GUESSED IT… JENNY AND GERARD

March 11th, 2010

The Bounty Hunter stars, Gerald Butler and Jennifer Aniston pose for the April 2010 issue of W magazine.

World Wide Web – Hottie Gerard Butler holds Jen Aniston very close for the April cover of W magazine shot by Steven Klein. The two, both kneeling on the ground, are giving us crazy sensual body language. Question Blaynistas, are these two an item or not? Oh, how we want them to be.

MIUCCIA PRADA SOUNDS OFF ON TWITTER

March 11th, 2010

Prada designer Miuccia Prada lets us know what she thinks of social networking.

World Wide Web – The debate over social networking has longed since lodged a wedge between many designers and the advancement of their brands, but for Miuccia Prada and her husband Patrizio Bertelli (who has a notoriously hot temper) the use of Twitter as a means to increasing the brand’s universal appeal has gotten down right volatile. The loving couple, who is often caught in a heated argument or two, has gone head to head over the appeal – or lack thereof – of online social networking.

“Bertelli is trying to convince his wife to embrace digital media and, more specifically, Twitter. When a mutual friend suggests she join the micro-blogging service, the designer bristles: “Well, what if we found out years from now that Twitter is crap. Maybe years from now, we’ll all have been mistaken,” Prada retorts.

And while Twitter might be a choice option for a young fashion house in need of immediate promotion, Prada might just know a thing or two about how to deal with a classic brand. After all, Prada invoked its immense following long before Facebook reconnected 4th grade “besties” and incited the need for an entirely new dictionary dedicated to abbreviations such as “OMG” and “FML”… Perhaps this is a case for “The Marriage Ref“. MORE MATERIAL NEWS: MADONNA WORKS WITH MACY’S, REVEALS PLAN TODAY

March 11th, 2010

Queen of Pop tackles on fashion, collaborating with Macy’s.

World Wide Web – The madam of reinvention has done it again and shocked the fashion world at large. Later today Madonna herself will reveal her plans to lace Macy’s stores across the nation with her signature style, allowing all of us a chance at draping ourselves in her vision of luxury. In a retail venture with Iconix, labeled MG Icon LLC, the material girl will go “off the rack” in August, not only increasing her own brand notoriety but offering Macy’s a chance at increased sales during the (still) struggling economic strife that is pummeling the nation. Over time, the “Material Girl” plans to expand her vision to eyeglasses, shoes and even a possible partnership with Ed Hardy. So while lady Gaga might be writhing on stage in Madonna’s stead, its nice to know that Madge still has plans to share herself with the world… and at half the price of concert tickets at that. [WWD]

IF INDIA AND ITALY HAD A BABY, WHAT WOULD IT LOOK LIKE?

March 11th, 2010

Prada introduce a fragrance that infuses scents from India and Italy.

World Wide Web – Truth is we have no clue about what the baby would look like but Prada certainly knows what it would smell like! Infusion De Tubéreuse, one of the latest of 2 fragrances Prada has added to their annual Ephemeral Infusion Collection, has an unexpected mix of Tuberose from India, Petitgrain Bigarade, Blood Orange from Italy and Dynamone. The other, Infusion de Vetiver, has a cooler scent with notes of Tarragon, Madagascan Pepper and Purple Ginger. Both come complete in vintage inspired bottles stamped with the Prada crest. Good work Prada!
